Federal Way Symphony presents ‘Color of Coloratura’ on Dec. 6th, 2009
The concert will feature lyric soprano Megan Chenovick singing arias from Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” Verdi’s “Rigoletto” and Handel’s “Tornami a vagheggiar.”

As Gaylord Ravenal, Richard Todd Adams, last seen locally at the Paramount in the recent run of Phantom of the Opera, easily hits the thrilling high notes Kern wrote for Ravenal, and he is matched vocally by Megan Chenovick, who never allows her Magnolia to be a conventionally simpering heroine, and the pair handle their characters' transition from their twenties into middle age with unforced ease.

Every voice in the cast. Richard Todd Adams (in whose voice you can still hear echoes of the Phantom, if you saw him at The Paramount last fall) and Megan Chenovick are haunting in their lead songs about love. But every person in the cast has a truly professional-quality voice. Megan Chenovick returns to Village Theatre as Magnolia Hawks in Show Boat. Most recently seen on the Mainstage in Bye Bye Birdie, Megan has an extensive history in opera performance, and was a 2009 NW Metropolitan Opera Regional Finalist. Only on the Village Theatre Blog can you read some of Megan’s experiences and thoughts around this production of Show Boat.

This summer Megan will have a chance to display her acting and classic vocal chops in Jerome Kern & Oscar Hammerstein's Show Boat. Megan will play the role of Magnolia whose character spans over forty years and sings such favorites as "You Are Love" and "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man." Save a date on your calendar between May 13th - August 2nd, 2009.
